John Aldridge insists Liverpool already have a ready-made replacement for Raheem Sterling in Jordon Ibe.
The Reds youngster is set to leave Anfield this summer, with Manchester City the firm favourites to land the 20-year-old.
City has already seen two bids turned down but are expected to return with another offer and could even match Liverpool’s £50million valuation.
But former Merseyside hero Aldridge claims Brendan Rodgers doesn’t need to go and splash the cash on an alternative for Sterling.
“Liverpool have a ready-made replacement for Raheem Sterling in Jordon Ibe,” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast show. “He’s a terrific player and has got so much potential.
“He’s got as much, if not more potential, than Raheem had at that age. He’s a big strong lad, very direct and a better finisher than Raheem.
“It’s a bonus for Liverpool that they already have one on the shelf.”
