Despite talk of a deal being done and dusted it would appear as though the Reds could face disappointment yet again after Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini said he had no desire to see 21-year-old Croatian international Mateo Kovacic leave the San Siro.
“Kovacic will become a champion,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia. “He is young, but has already improved a lot. I think he will stay at Inter.
“I don’t think there is anything going on with him regarding a transfer.”
This could prove to be a big blow for Brendan Rodgers, but with Italian clubs always seeming to need money a deal may still happen with Mancini only trying to get a better price for his young star.
