The rumour mill in Italy is in full force and with both Napoli and Liverpool having a poor start to their respective seasons the talk is that the Reds will be making a swoop for Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain in January hoping to tempt Napoli into letting the 26-year-old leave for £35 million despite only having played one season for the Azzurri since his £31 million move from Real Madrid.

Our thoughts on this rumour is that it is a non-starter as despite his credentials Higuain would never be a replacement for the departed Luis Suarez and with the arrival of Mario Balotelli the Merseyside giants have other areas of the team they need to concentrate on rather than their attack which we remind you also has Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini not to mention Raheem Sterling who fancies himself to score a good few goals this season.

Liverpool still has problems in defence and with Steven Gerrard entering his final days as a first team player we feel that money would most likely be spent on finding a long term replacement for the Anfield hero or a permanent fixture at right back with us so far not impressed on loan right Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.
