It was always going to be a gamble when Liverpool signed Mario Balotelli last summer from AC Milan for £16 million, and so far nothing has gone to plan with the Italian striker not managing to score a single goal in the Premiership.

Amid rumours that a January exit might be on the cards, Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Liverpool have rejected outright a loan move from struggling Serie A side Parma.

Balotelli has not started a Premier League game since November, and is currently side-lined with a chest infection.

Despite the 24-year-olds lack of form it would appear as if Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has not given up hope yet, and with Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert scoring at the weekend Balotelli’s time may still be to come.
