Liverpool will step up their efforts to persuade Fulham to sell Clint Dempsey by offering Dutch international Dirk Kuyt in part exchange for the American international.

Liverpool to Make Player Plus Cash Offer for Fulham Attacker Clint Dempsey

The experienced attacker has become something of a bit part player at Anfield this term but could still be a player that would interest Craven Cottage boss Martin Jol.

29 year old Dempsey has been in outstanding form for his West London club this season, netting 22 goals in all competitions, and as yet he hasn’t entered talks to sign a new deal and with his current contract having just over a year to run there is much speculation that the Fulham man be considering his options after five years at the club.

Kenny Dalglish is keen to beef up his attacking options and is one of many Premier League manager’s who is said to have taken interest in Dempsey, who is also reportedly a target of a number of club’s overseas.

Dirk Kuyt has himself been linked with a possible move abroad with apparent interest from his native Holland but the chance to stay in the Premier League may trump interest from the Eredivisie.

The 31 year old has seen his regular slot on the right side of the Liverpool midfield shared between himself and Jordan Henderson and having notched up 283 appearances for the Merseyside club is may be the right time for the former Feyenoord man to consider pastures new.

A move to London may tempt Kuyt and if Jol feels he is powerless to keep Dempsey from pushing for a move away from Fulham then perhaps the addition of the proven Premier League talent could appeal to the Dutch boss.
