Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has now after the humiliating 4-1 loss at Arsenal got a full flown dressing room crisis to deal with after accusing several players of not playing for him.

This accusation has now caused a backlash from some of the clubs senior players who resent the accusations and made their opinions clear to the Northern Irishman.

The latest crisis comes as a depleted squad thanks to suspensions for Martin Skrtel and Emre Can travel to Blackburn on Wednesday night for their FA Cup quarter final replay at Elwood Park.

Club captain Steven Gerrard is leaving in the summer to play in the MLS for the LA Galaxy and Rodgers faces the prospect of tough contract negotiations with both Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson while also knowing it will be hard to attract big names to the club now that for all intents and purposes a top-four finish and Champions League football appears unobtainable.

“Liverpool is a great club. But, of course, players want to play at the top level of the game and if you’re not in the Champions League it makes it difficult for you.” Said the Reds boss.
