Things have not been going to plan at Anfield this season, and after a dreadful Champions League campaign came to an end Tuesday night when the Reds failed to beat Swiss outfit Basel at home the pressure appears to be building up on manager Brendan Rodgers.

Speculation has mounted in recent weeks that Liverpool owners the Fenway Sports Group have started to sound out various people including Zenit Saint Petersburg manager Andres Villas-Boas, and if the run of poor form continues it could spell the end for the Northern Irishman.

According to respected reporter Duncan Castles the hunt for a replacement has begun with Castles saying: ‘It doesn’t look good for Rodgers, there’s been contact with alternatives to replace him. The fact that they’re looking shows Rodgers is not in a good place.’
