After failing to break into the starting team at Liverpool summer signing Luis Alberto is set to be farmed out to Spanish La Liga side Malaga on loan.

According to his agent the 21-year-old is set to return to his native Spain.

“Luis Alberto likes the possibility of Malaga,” Enrique Rosado told Malaga Today.

“We are negotiating with several clubs, including Malaga. We’re talking.”

Alberto moved to Anfield in the summer of 2013 from Sevilla for £6.8 million, but has not progressed as quickly as the Reds had hoped which has led to the decision to send him back to Spain for at least one season, and it is not only Malaga that are interested but also Espanyol.

During his time at Anfield Alberto made nine appearances as a substitute for a combined total of 135 minutes playing time.
