Liverpool face competition for Chelsea left-back

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has found the solution to his left back problems at his former club Chelsea in the form of out-of-favour left-back Ryan Bertrand.

Liverpool could though face still competition from Everton though should Roberto Martinez agree to let Leighton Baines sign for Manchester United.

The 24-year-old Bertrand is out of favour at Stamford Bridge since the return of Jose Mourinho who has put Cesar Azpilicueta to play in the left-back slot.

While Mourinho might be willing to let Bertrand leave he would prefer it to be to a club that is not challenging Chelsea at the top of the table.

The Daily Mirror is also reporting that the deal to sign Basel winger Mohamed Salah  is making progress, and that the Reds boss has cash to spend in order to secure a top four finish and even possibly challenge for the title
