According to Rob Shepard of the Daily Mail Liverpool is seriously considering bringing Fernando Torres back to Anfield in January.

The Reds could however face competition from Atletico Madrid the club Torres played for as a youngster before moving to Liverpool.

Currently the Spaniard is on a two-year-loan to AC Milan from Chelsea, but has only managed to score one goal in ten games leading to speculation that the Italians would like to send him back to Chelsea in January.

Given the injury problems to Blues striker Diego Costa, manager Jose Mourinho might consider taking Torres back, but it seems unlikely with the Portuguese boss having already given up on him when he decided to loan him out to cover his high wages.

As for Liverpool when Torres was there he scored 65 goals in 102 Premiership games to become a fan favourite, and with talk of £16 million signing Mario Balotelli going on-loan to Napoli there is a possibility that the now 30-year-old Torres could find himself back at Anfield.
