Should Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers struggle early next season Liverpool’s owners the Fenway Sports Group know that the highly experience German manager and fans favourite Jürgen Klopp is waiting in the wings for a chance to prove what he can do at Anfield.

Even his agent is on-board fuelling the flames by saying: “The Premier League is very exciting.”

The bookmakers also are seeing Klopp on Merseyside a big possibility slashing their odds of the German taking over from 11-8 to 5-6.

One bookie said: “At the start of last season Rodgers was 100-1 to leave Liverpool.

”But it’s now gone from the unthinkable to the very likely as he is now odds-on at 5-6 to part ways with the club he came so close to winning the title with in 2014.”

Following his departure from Dortmund the 47-year-old German trainer announced he was taking a break from football for a while, but the topic of him taking the Liverpool job was discussed at a golf tournament for ex-players and bosses at Spain’s famous La Manga course last week.

One former manager said: “The main point of discussion was Klopp and his possible move to Liverpool.

“Everyone was wondering why Brendan’s coaches have gone and who was behind it.

“Some who know Klopp said he constantly turns down interview requests, preferring to stay below the radar, which they say is unlike him.”

While Liverpool fans do not want the club to suffer early next season, it has to be said that if the club held a pole as to who they would like to see in charge we think Klopp would easily come out on top.
