CHELSEA are set to snap up £20million German hitman Andre Schurrle today.

It’s a Schurr thing

Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo is confident of landing the German international from Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer window closes.

That would take his summer spending spree to more than £100m, following the recent signings of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Marko Marin, Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta.

It would also open the door for England striker Daniel Sturridge to join Liverpool on loan and gain the regular first-team football he wants to boost his international career.

Florent Malouda and Yossi Benayoun will be departing too.

The Blues have increased their offer for Schurrle, 21, after a £16m bid was rejected by Leverkusen last month.

Di Matteo sees the powerful young forward as the ideal back-up to Fernando Torres.

Club executives in Monaco for the UEFA Super Cup with Atletico Madrid have been trying frantically to finalise the deal.
