Never mind the flattering 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday as the score was much better looking than the way Arsenal performed for 90 minutes against a team everyone is predicting for relegation.

The big worry now is if they struggled against tiny Sunderland at home how will they cope against Greek champions Olympiacos midweek when the two teams meet in Athens for their Champions League Group decider.

Gunners midfielder Aaron Ramsey by his own admission was running on empty towards the end of the game against the Black Cats, yet insists that the team can dig deep and beat Olympiacos by two clear goals on Wednesday night and advance to the knock out stage of this seasons Champions League without the help of Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin who are all missing through injury.

“We have got off to a good start for December and hopefully we can continue this and keep ourselves in the hunt for the league and to qualify for the Champions League as well,” said Ramsey.

“We will always create opportunities – just hopefully we can stop Olympiacos, keep a clean sheet and grab a couple of goals ourselves.

“It was never going to be easy after the start we had in Europe, but we have done well to come back into the position that we find ourselves in and it is in our hands – we know what we have to do.

“We have been here a few times before. It is really difficult; we have come up short a lot of the times in Europe. But we know what we have to do and we believe we have enough quality to create the opportunities and score.

“Hopefully we can do that and keep a clean sheet. It is a different situation, we have to go out there and win 2-0 and that will be enough.”
