In an interview on radio programme Radioestadio on Onda Cerola, Bernd Schuster gave his view on Pep Guardiola’s next managerial move, Bayern Munich. Schuster – the former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid player and Getafe and Real Madrid manager, to name a couple – said he was delighted with the appointment of such a prestigious coach: “It’s great news for Germany that Guardiola is going to Bayern”.
However, the German had words of warning for the Catalan coach with regard to the Bundesliga club’s hierarchy: “One thing that could be difficult for Guardiola is dealing with the people above him. I’m talking about Matthias Sammer, as Sporting Director, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, as Vice-President, and Uli Hoeness, as Club President. And that’s without Franz Beckenbauer. It will be hard to handle all of them, as they have their own views which may differ from Guardiola’s”, Schuster added.
“Bayern is a very demanding club. But it also looks after its players and coaches very well”, the German concluded.
