As this reporter has been thinking for a while now news of Pep Guardiola coming to manage in the Premiership is getting closer, and it will be no surprise to find out where he is going once the news breaks.

Txiki Begiristain was appointed director of football at the Eastlands last year, and it is widely known that he was instrumental in appointing Pep Guardiola to the position of manager at Barcelona, and credited with bringing the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Dani Alves and Gerard Pique to Camp Nou.

With Begiristain now firmly in place the next obvious move is for Guardiola to come in as Manager this summer and repeat the job he did while coaching the Catalan Giants by making Manchester City the top team in Europe.

While Mancini might have won the Premiership last season by the skin of his teeth, City has looked at times this year a team in disarray.

Mancini failed in signing the two players he wanted last summer in Eden Hazard, and Robin van Persie despite offering the Dutchman more money than cross town rivals Manchester United, and failing to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League was yet another setback for the Italian.

Just last week Guardiola let it be known that he is ready to get back into football this summer following his self-imposed year-long sabbatical, yet he was coy about what club he would be managing saying: I will return next season but it would show a lack of respect to talk about any team that has a coach.”

A top source inside Spanish football says he knows where Guardiola will be in the summer saying: “It is 100 per cent certain that Guardiola is going to City this summer.

“And when I say 100 per cent I don’t mean 99 per cent, I mean 100 per cent!”

If the source is correct the job at City will make Guardiola the highest paid manager in British football with a wage of £10 million after tax.
