Arsenal is waiting for German international Sami Khedira after he turned down a new deal to stay at Champions League winners Real Madrid.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, and carried in the Daily Star the 27-year-old defensive midfielder has rejected the chance to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu telling the management that he would rather move to Arsenal.

Currently the former Stuttgart player has just one year remaining on his contract with the Spanish giants, and the club would rather get some money for him now that see him leave for free in 12 months’ time.

Reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal have already submitted a £24 million bid, but that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reluctant to meet the Germans high wage demands of £153,000 per-week £13,000 more than current top earner Mesut Özil.
