TOTTENHAM will decide today whether to complain to UEFA after their black stars were racially abused by Italian fans.

Fury at Defoe monkey chants, Tottenham 0 Lazio 0

By PAUL JIGGINS

Striker Jermain Defoe and winger Aaron Lennon were subjected to monkey chants from a large number of the 3,000 Lazio followers in this Europa League stalemate.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said he did not hear the chants but said: “UEFA is normally very good in this kind of situation.

“The objective of all of us is to kick racism out of football.”

On the pitch, AVB’s men had THREE goals ruled out.

Two of the strikes — Clint Dempsey’s ‘offside’ header and a Steven Caulker effort disallowed for the softest of shoves — should have stood.

American Dempsey said: “I thought I was level with the line. It was a good ball from Gareth Bale and I thought I’d opened my account.

“But that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
