Brendan Rodgers is already drawing up a hit-list of targets to boost his Liverpool squad and may bring in as many as three of his former Swansea players.

The new king of Anfield could hijack Gylfi Sigurdsson’s £6.8million permanent move to the Liberty from Hoffenheim as the Icelandic midfielder has still to finalise that transfer.

Sigurdsson was prepared to make his loan move to Swansea permanent because of Rodgers, and would be tempted by the chance to be reunited with him on Merseyside.

Centre-half Ashley Williams and winger Scott Sinclair will also be in Rodgers’ thoughts.

They were both key to Swansea’s excellent first Premier League campaign last season, when they finished 11th.

In addition, Rodgers’ joining present at Liverpool will be Mohamed Diame.

The midfielder is joining on a Bosman after his contract at Wigan expired, despite interest from Sunderland, QPR and Spain’s Real Betis.

Diame feared his Anfield move would fall through after Kenny Dalglish was sacked, but the Reds remain keen on the Senegal international and he will officially sign on July 1.
