ALEX FERGUSON has been ordered by the FA to explain his rant at linesman Simon Beck.

The Manchester United boss was fuming with the assistant ref for turning down Wayne Rooney’s penalty appeal during Sunday’s draw at Spurs.

Fergie raged: “It was a clear penalty but there was no way the linesman was going to give that. He gave them everything.”

Fergie, now sweating on a possible touchline ban and fine, has until 6pm on Thursday to reply and try to talk his way out of a disciplinary charge.

But the incident comes less than a month after he escaped a rap for confronting referee Mike Dean at half-time in the Boxing Day clash with Newcastle.

And in March 2011 he was hit with a five-match ban and £30,000 fine for questioning the integrity of ref Martin Atkinson following a game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
