England will be without Jermain Defoe and Michael Carrick for Wednesday’s prestigious friendly versus Brazil, and Daniel Sturridge is a major doubt.
Tottenham striker Defoe, 30, suffered an ankle injury in a win at West Brom, while Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, 31, has a hip injury.
Liverpool forward Sturridge, 22, is to have a thigh injury assessed before the match at Wembley.
No replacements have yet been named for the 24-man squad.
Defoe injury appears the worst and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said: “He rolled his ankle.
“He will have to have a scan to reveal the extent of the injury.
“Hopefully, there is not a lot of ligament damage. If there is, he could be out for two to three weeks.”
Carrick played the full 90 minutes of his side’s win at Fulham on Saturday.
Sturridge was substituted after 90 minutes of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Sunday and later joined up with the England squad at St George’s Park.
“He got a knock just before half-time on his thigh and he wanted to give it a go in the second half,” said Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
“I think he will be a doubt for the game on Wednesday, which is unfortunate because he was terrific [against Manchester City].
“He will have a chat with our doctors and he will speak with the England set-up.
“They might want to have a look at it but at the moment he is obviously struggling.”
