Various media houses in the UK today have reported that Manchester United are interested in signing Lazio and a Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia who is valued at £20million by the capital club. Biglia was signed from Anderlecht in 2013 after making 195 games scoring 10 goals.

A graduate of Argentinos Juniors, Bigilia left for Independiente before moving to Anderlecht in 2006 where he played for four seasons winning four straight league titles in a row.

Biglia can be said to be a late developer as he only won his first cap for Argentina in 2011 and played in his first senior tournament in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil starting in the quarter-final, semi-final and final  as Argentina narrowly lost to Germany in the final .

This season, the Argentine has scored four goals in 24 Serie A games registering a further three assists. Manchester United have struggled this season with at it’s midfielder not able to maintain consistent good forms and injuries curtailing the small progress Louis Van Gaal has made.

It remains to be seen if United to push on to sign the midfielder as uncertainty continues to hover around the head of the Dutch Manager. At 30, Biglia appears to be in the twilight of his career and may not fit in with the philosophy of the Dutch manager who is more concerned with youth players as the likes not less than 16 reserve players have made their debut in his two years at the club.

Should Biglia sign for Manchester United, it could mean Carrick will be released at the end of the season and Fellaini off as has been reported lately.
