The Spain star reportedly fell out with Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho earlier this month and was benched for the visit of Manchester City in the Champions League, but is thought to have patched up his differences with the Portuguese boss.

Ramos played at right-back during Madrid’s 5-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna this weekend, and admitted afterwards he prefers playing centre-back.

Speaking to AS.com, Ramos said: “If I had the choice, I’d always be centre-back. But we’re here to help and I’ll play wherever.”

The World Cup winner insists he does not feel singled out by Mourinho, after the Real Madrid boss questioned his performances, but Ramos says he will defend his right to speak out.

“I’ll defend my ideas and my principles to the end, and if there’s something that I don’t like, why should I have to stay quiet about? I don’t have as much experience as Aragones, but, as he says, I’ve been around the block. Nobody could question my work and my loyalty to this club.”

Chelsea and Manchester City were linked with the €50m-rated Real Madrid defender after he’d been dropped by former-Chelsea boss Mourinho earlier this month.

But the Premier League clubs were warned off, and Ramos insists he’s committed to the La Liga champions.

Chelsea and Manchester City are the only two Premier League clubs who would likely be able to afford the Spanish international an attractive enough deal to leave the Spanish capital, and the pair have reportedly sounded out the Spain star’s availability.

Ramos has developed into one of the game’s best defenders since moving to the Bernabeu from Sevilla as a teenager, and Chelsea and Manchester City would both benefit from his presence.

Jose Mourinho recently described him as one of the world’s best defenders, but the two have endured a tetchy relationship in the last few weeks stoking speculation further that he could leave the club.
