Last summer Liverpool paid French Ligue 1 side Lille £10 million for Belgium international striker Divock Origi with the understanding that he would remain at Lille till the end of the season.

Now French sports daily L’Equipe is reporting that there was a clause in the contract allowing Liverpool to bring him back in January should they require a striker, and that Liverpool would compensate the club six million euros to get the 19-year-old back early.

L’Equipe goes on to say that Lille would use the unexpected windfall to buy 24-year-old FK Partizan Belgrade striker Petar Skuletic.
