Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal is confident that Spanish international David De Gea will be in nets for the Red devils when they player their season opener against Tottenham at Old Trafford on August 8th.
The 24-year-old is yet to feature for Manchester United during their pre-season tour of the United States with the bosses at Old Trafford now resigned to the fact that if he does not join Real Madrid this summer he will join the Spanish giants as a free agent next year.
Van Gaal also confirmed that De Gea will feature at some part during Saturday’s friendly with Barcelona in Santa Clara, despite still recovering from a niggling back injury.
“When a player is injured it’s the same thing you have to wait in the season,” Van Gaal said.
“I give players time to recover and build up their fitness. It’s still possible he’ll be ready to start the season against Spurs because he shall play tomorrow.”
