In what appears to be a major story if true Spanish journalist Alfredo Duro on one of the country’s best known football shows El Chiringuito claimed that Manchester United turned down the chance to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

Duro claimed that CR7’s agent Jorge Mendes flew to Manchester last month to meet with the clubs chief scout Martin Ferguson (the brother of Sir Alex).

Mendes proposed a deal to Ferguson, but when it was relayed to manager Louis van Gaal the Dutchman shot it down saying that he did not want the Ballon D’Or winner in his team.

United has be linked with a move for Ronaldo before, yet the fan favourite has always maintained that despite his love for Manchester United he plans to end his playing days in Madrid.

The Spanish show is well known for its off the wall take of what is going on in the world of football so we would advise you not to put too much faith in this story for now.
