Manchester City’s Samir Nasri has warned his fellow teammates that Chelsea unlike Liverpool will not feel the pressure and collapse when the points are close.

City’s 1-1 draw with Hull City on Saturday now sees them seven points behind leaders Chelsea, and Nasri admits that City were just not good enough.

Worse still is the fact that City has stared to be more concerned about who is coming up behind them rather than focusing on Chelsea.

Speaking to the Daily Star Nasri said: “We have to wake up and do the job now before it’s too late. Chelsea, with no disrespect, are not Liverpool – who can drop points. They are really solid.

“We have to catch them as soon as possible if we want to be champions.

“But at the same time we have to look behind us. Southampton have won, United are getting close. We’ll see.

“But this is a little bit the story of our season, we are seven points behind Chelsea – and they are the points we lost against Stoke at home and today.

“It’s not good enough. We are trying to improve and get better. The season is still long and we will try to be better next game.”

City next travel to the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday to play Stoke, and Nasri knows how tough the Potters play at home.

Nasri said: “It will be tough at Stoke, it’s not ideal at 7.45pm on a Wednesday during the winter but we have to win it – to catch up the points we have lost.”
