Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has just celebrated his 30th birthday admits that a deal involving him going back to Atletico Madrid for Diego Costa is a possibility this summer.

The Chelsea striker signed from Liverpool for £50 million three years ago has only managed to find the back of the net four times this season under Jose Mourinho, and with Chelsea looking at bringing in a new striker he does not dismiss the possibility of returning to his former club telling the Daily Mirror:

“In football, you never know,” he said. “You don’t know where you’re going to be tomorrow, in a week’s time or in 10 years’ time. How can I answer that question?

“You never know where life is going to take you. There’s nothing to say I’d end up with Diego Simeone here (at Chelsea) or at Atleti. Who could have told me that I was going to coincide with Rafa Benitez at two different English clubs?”

Torres played with Atletico coach Diego Simeone after coming through the clubs youth system before signing for Liverpool in 2007.

“He helped me a lot,” the Spaniard added. “He taught me how to be a captain; he taught me a lot in the seasons we played together at Atleti.”
