Ever since Antonio Conte was announced as the new Chelsea manager for next season, there have been many players who have been linked to signing for the Blues. And if reports this afternoon in the British press is anything to go by, the Blues could be signing one of their main targets without having to burn the bank.
Reports this afternoon claim N’Golo Kante who has been one of the best players in the Premier league so far this season has a release clause of £20 million which the Blues and any other club that wants the Frenchman can activate this summer. Aside the existence of a release clause in Kante’s contract, the player himself has been non-commital when asked if he will stay at Leicester city beyond this season.
Kante has been one of the best players in the Premier league this season. His work rate has been second to none in the Premier league so far and this has not gone unnoticed as many clubs have been linked to the signing of the Frenchman.
Chelsea who have constantly been linked to the signing of box to box/defensive midfielders ever since the club announced the signing of Antonio Conte would do well to sign Kante. This is especially as Ramires has left the club in January, Mikel and Oscar are also likely to leave and Matic seems to be a one season wonder has he has been poor for the most part of this season.
For just £20 million, Chelsea will be done a nice bit of transfer business signing the Frenchman. They will however have strong challenge from Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG for the signature of the workaholic Leicester City star.
