Chelsea and Everton have been handed a transfer boost following reports that Benfica forward Oscar Cardozo has yet to agree a new deal with the Portuguese club.

Chelsea and Everton boosted in hunt for Paraguay star

As reported by talkSPORT last month, the Paraguayan, whose deal at the Stadium of Light expires in 2014, was set to sign a new contract but talks appear to have stalled over the forward’s demands.

He is believed to have requested a significant pay rise to extend his stay in Portugal, and club officials are negotiating with his agent.

The 29-year-old has started this season in fine form, notching four goals in four league outings, and Benfica will be keen to tie him down amid interest from the Premier League.
