Iker Casillas has beaten almost every record around with Spain and made history again on Friday night after Spain beat Belarus 4-0.

Casillas’s clean sheet in Minsk took him to nine consecutive games without conceding a goal for Spain, equalling the ercord set by Santiago Cañizares between April 2002 and June 2004.

The Spain captain has now gone 725 minutes without conceding a goal, surpassing his previous record of 708 minutes. It says something about the fickleness of football fans that Casillas is currently being criticised for his performances in goal, at the same time that he is making history with the national team.

On Tuesday the boy from Mosteles will have the chance to go one beyond Cañizares and make it 10 games without conceding a goal when ‘La Roja’ entertain France at the Vicente Calderón.
