WEST HAM face a huge battle to persuade Andy Carroll to join them from Liverpool.

Carroll stinger

The Hammers are willing to cough up the £2million fee to loan the England striker next season with the possibility of a permanent deal if they stay in the Premier League.

But Carroll, who joined Liverpool from Newcastle for £35m last year, is not keen on a move to Upton Park despite the prospect of playing with pal Kevin Nolan.

Former club Newcastle are also in the hunt for Carroll, 23, after he was told he did not feature in new Kop boss Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Anfield.
