The Daily Star is reporting that Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell has finally been given a starting spot in the team despite his fantastic performance in last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
Much to Gooners surprise the 22-year-old has only made four league appearances for Arsenal since returning to from the tournament that comprise of 37 minutes total playing time.
It would appear Wenger is only giving him the start today due to the fact that Danny Welbeck has failed to recover from thigh injury, Olivier Giroud is banned and Yaya Sanogo is absent due to a hamstring problem.
If Campbell can put in a good performance at St Marys there will be questions for Wenger to answer if he drops Campbell once he has his regulars back.
