BRENDAN RODGERS has blasted Joe Cole after the midfielder’s latest comeback flop.
The former England ace started for the Reds last night in their 3-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Swansea.
But in his first outing since Liverpool’s goalless draw with Stoke at the start of October, Cole was hauled off at half-time after an error-strewn display.
Kop boss Rodgers fumed: “The club have invested an astronomical amount of money on a talented player and Joe had the opportunity.
“He has been back fit a couple of weeks and his opportunities have been limited but you have to see.
“I thought it was difficult for him. It was too slow and it wasn’t what I would expect from a team I tried to set up to be dynamic.”
Cole, 30, was signed by Roy Hodgson on a free transfer in 2010 but was shipped out on loan to defending French champions Lille last term.
