Following on from yesterday’s news that Catalan giants Barcelona were going to try and sign Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria, we read reports today that it is his Argentinian teammate Lionel Messi who is pushing for the club to try and sign him.

Add to this yet more speculation suggesting a move to the European champions is not possible due to a clause in his contract between Manchester United and Real Madrid, and you have another bone of contention.

All this talk of course will have no impact on a possible move to the Bundesliga though with Sky Deutschland reporting that Bayern Munich is interested in signing the 27-year-old, along with PSG who failed to sign him last summer due to FFP regulations.

Big things were expected from Di Maria after Manchester United paid a British record transfer fee of £59.7 million for him, yet he failed to deliver scoring just three goals in 26 appearances for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has signed Dutch winger Memphis Depay from PSV and now with the young flyer in the team he could possibly be willing to let Di Maria leave, but it remains to be seen if any club would be willing to give Manchester United the nearly £60 million they paid to Real Madrid.
