Marseille midfielder Joey Barton has found himself in controversy after labelling Brazilian superstar Neymar as no better than ‘cat piss’.
Barton, no stranger to ruffling feathers with his on and off the field misdemeanours, took to social media to rate the youngster’s performance in Brazil’s recent 1-1 international friendly draw with Russia.
“Neymar is the Justin Bieber of football,” Barton wrote on his Twitter account. “Brilliant on the old You Tube. Cat piss in reality…”
Barton’s comments follow a long standing feud between the two players, Neymar once admitting he had “no idea’ who Barton was after the former England international ridiculed the 21-year-old.
And Barton has repeatedly mocked the Santo’s stars performances for the Brazilian national team, calling Neymar ‘overrated’ and a ‘showpony’ following Brazil’s defeat to England in Febuary.
