The Gunners boss blamed his side of being far too conservative in their approach against Swansea City last night at the Emirates in a match that ended 2-2 in dramatic fashion after an own goal from midfielder Mathieu Flamini in the dying moments of the game.

Arsenal was looking to bounce back from the 6-0 mauling they suffered on Saturday against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and looked on their was following two goals 60 seconds apart midway through the second half from Podolski and Giroud to give Arsenal the lead after Swansea’s Wilfried Bony had given the Swans an early lead.

Flamini however managed to head the ball into his own net from close range to give the visitors a share of the points.

Arsenal now appears to have lost any chance they had of the Premiership title now six points behind Chelsea with only seven games left to play.

“It’s really unlucky but we have to focus on the next game now and live with the result,” the 64-year-old Wenger told Sky Sports.

“They defended well, which all teams do now. We need to be patient and not concede the second goal which I thought we did quite well.

“In the space of two minutes we scored two goals but after that you could see that our drive going forward was less.

“We were possibly more concerned about keeping the score (as it was) because of what happened on Saturday but we were too conservative.”
