Metro is this morning reporting that Arsenal is preparing to go after Slovak international and Napoli captain Marek Hamsik along with Roma striker Mattia Destro if they can sell players to help fund the move.

Both Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski have been linked with moves away from the Emirates in recent months, and their sale could help fund the move for the Serie A pair according to METRO.

Speculation is that talks with Roma over Destro are already under way with Arsenal looking to pay £15 million for the Italian striker.

Getting Napoli to sell captain Hamsik could however prove to be a much harder prospect despite the fact the 27-year-old is currently out of favour with manager Rafa Benítez who dropped the Slovak midfielder for a recent match with AC Milan.

Much of manager Arsene Wenger’s January budget will go for defensive reinforcements but the addition of Hamsik would add a central midfield general and all out striker Destro would provide competition for Olivier Giroud.
