Arsenal is according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo leading the race to sign the European Under-21 Championship’s best player, William Carvalho.
The Gunners sent scouts to watch the Sporting Lisbon star during the final against Sweden, in which he missed a penalty in the shootouts to cost the Portuguese the title, but is still expected to move to the Premiership this summer for around £20 million.
Arsenal however is not alone in their desire to sign the 23-year-old with Liverpool also sending scouts to the match, to help manager Brendan Rodgers decide if he wants to try and bring the youngster to Anfield, and given the way Liverpool has been signing players, Arsenal could have a battle on their hands.
