In what should come as great news for Arsenal in their desire to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir, his father has come out and publically said that his son will only leave France if it is to go and play for Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be keen on signing the 21-year-old this January after having seen him put in some impressive displays for the Ligue 1 club who will not be happy to let him leave after having scored six goals in 14 appearances so far this season.

Lyon like many clubs in France are struggling financially and would probably be open to an offer of £8 million for the French-Algerian attacking midfielder whose father has given the Gunners a boost by saying: ‘Nabil would like to finish first or second and play Champions League football with Lyon,’ Mohamed Fekir told French publication Le Parisien.

‘If he leaves, it will be for Arsenal. It is the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger. He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.’
