Arsenal should put out a weak team when they play Bayern Munich

Former Arsenal manager George Graham is suggesting that the Gunners put out a weak team when they meet Bayern Munich for the second-leg of their last-16 match at the Allianz Arena after having lost the first leg to the Germans 0-2 at the Emirates.

Former boss Graham thinks that Arsenal is incapable of coming back from a two-goal deficit and should field a weakened squad so that they can concentrate on the Premiership where they have key matches against Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City after the match in Germany.

“One of the questions facing Arsene is whether they play their best team and try to win the tie, which is near impossible, or concentrate on the league,” Graham told BBC Radio Five Live’s Sportsweek programme.

“Personally I’d play a weakened team because I think the second half of the first leg was like a practice match for Bayern.

“It took a lot out of Arsenal and they have some very tough games coming up. They need fresh legs and fresh minds.

“This is one of the big decisions managers have to make.”

Here at Soccer Transfers we disagree with Graham and think that Wenger should play the best side he has available and go for it just like they did last season, as it would not be fair on the loyal supporters who will be there to cheer the Gunners on. They came close last year so who is to say it cannot happen?
