With Southampton’s French international defensive-midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin almost certainly on his way to Old Trafford reports suggest that Arsene Wenger has now revived his interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.

The 26-year-old German has proved himself in the Bundesliga where his style of play is similar to that of Mikel Arteta, an intelligent passer of the ball while also providing an impressive desire to always protect his back-wall putting out fires when required to do so.

The big difference between Bender and the Spaniard is that the young German has the upper body strength to mix it up with the Premierships toughest players.

Arsenal will not be alone in their desire to sign the £18 million rated player with Liverpool and Chelsea also said to be interested knowing that Leverkusen will have no trouble selling Bender as they already have cover in the form of Christoph Kramer.
