Arsene Wenger gave his usual injury update that precedes every match on Monday. The boss spoke ahead of the Capital One Cup match against Southampton. The club has been plagued by several injuries since the season started.

1. Theo Walcott

The England international has been out since January with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. His return date has constantly been shifted. He was penciled down for a return last August by Arsene Wenger. But it was shifted to September after the international break, but the boss has now confirmed that he would be back after the next international break in mid October.
“Theo is doing very well he said, he should be available after the international break for full training”  Wenger said.

2. Yaya Sanogo

The French Under-21 international has not featured for Arsenal since he started against Leicester City in a Premier League match in August. He came back from the last international break with a hamstring injury, and that has kept him out longer than expected. He is not expected back until after the international break according to Arsene Wenger.

3. Serge Gnabry

The 19 year old has been off the radar since the latter stages of last season. The injury that has kept him out for so long was not disclosed by the boss. But the good news is that he too joins the aforementioned duo back in October after the break. He is expected to return to full training next month.

4. Nacho Monreal

He succumbed to a back injury after the league match against Manchester City. This was after starting in five consecutive matches, he was initially expected to return last Friday, but he is now expected to return in mid October. As Arsene Wenger claims: “He is not far, but he is not ready yet.”

5. Mathieu Debuchy

The 29 year old had surgery on his left ankle ligament, and he is expected to be out for three months. The boss confirmed thus: “He had surgery on Friday and will be out for three months.”
“A reasonable delay is three months. All went well, but it can be a week or two earlier or a week or two later, but it will be around three months.

6. Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud’s injury already looks a long time ago. An injury he suffered against Everton, in Arsenal’s second league match in August. He too is spending three months out, and he is not expected back until the New Year from his broken fibula.
