With a fee already being agreed Arsenal will hope to tie up the signing of Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista as early as Monday morning.
Speaking following yesterday’s fourth-round FA Cup win over Brighton Wenger said: ‘It’s on the line and I think we’ll get over the line tonight and tomorrow.’
When the Frenchman was asked about any potential problems with a work permit he replied:
‘Yes, we will be alright on that front.’
He added: ‘He’s a player who is 24 years old, a good size, good pace and he’s a good defender.
‘Of course, he’s only played one year in Europe. Maybe there are some things to work on, but the potential is there.’
