The agent of Colombian striker Jackson Martinez, Henrique Pompei has confirmed that Chelsea have made enquires as to the availability of his client.
Since moving from Porto to Atletico Madrid over the summer for £25.8 million the 29-year-old striker has struggled scoring just three goals for the Spanish team in 12 appearances, leading to rumours that trainer Diego Simeone may be willing to let him leave.
Last summer he was being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but in the end Gunners boss Arsene Wenger only signed goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea.
Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink is looking for new striker options and may make a move for Martinez even if it might be a loan until the end of the season.
