Manchester City is preparing to make a move for Arsenal and Manchester United target Aymeric Laporte, as the look set to embark upon a major rebuilding process this summer and has Goal reporting that the Athletic Bilbao defender ranks high on their target list.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also admirers of the U-21 French international, but it is City boss Manuel Pellegrini who has made the first move sending City scout Rob Newman to watch the youngster in action.
Laporte has a £30 million buyout clause in his contract with the Basque club, but City is confident that they can snatch him up from under their Premiership rivals noses with a bid of £25 million.
