Everton is hoping to catch both Arsenal and Manchester United napping by making a sneaky £10 million bid for Torino forward Alessio Cerci as they start to consider the fact that Romelu Lukaku will no longer be playing for them next season after the on loan Belgium international has stated his desire to join a club where he can play Champions League football.

The Daily Express is saying that reports out of Italy have confirmed Everton’s interest in the 26-year-old, and that they have offered the Serie A club what they consider a reasonable offer for a player that scored 13 goals last season.

No one would argue that you could consider Cerci a direct replacement for Lukaku, but should Everton manage to sign him it would certainly lessen the blow of losing your top scorer.

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked to the Italian midfielder in the past, but it would now appear that the Toffee’s were first off the blocks in an attempt to sign him.
