Manchester United is ready to battle Arsenal over the signing of Schalke’s £37 million wunderkind Julian Draxler.
The 20-year-old put in yet another stunning performance during Schalke’s 2-1 win over Augsburg on Friday night to underline the reason why Arsenal tried so desperately to sign him during the January transfer window.
Manchester United manager David Moyes armed with a war chest of money is expected to be a big player in this summer transfer market, and has the Daily Star saying that he has earmarked the midfielder for United.
In addition to Draxler the Red Devils are also thought to be front runners in the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, and Benfica’s centre-half Ezequiel Garay after scouts were in Portugal to watch him play against Tottenham on Thursday night.
