Portuguese and Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo’s long awaited return to Manchester United after a seven year absence might be dead on arrival according to reports from Don Balon.

This is mainly due to the fact that it will take more than the £70 million that Real Madrid paid Manchester United for his services in 2009, an amount the North West side are reluctant to part with at present. Secondly, the wages of Ronaldo is also an obstacle as he will earn above current Three Lions and United captain Wayne Rooney (£250,000 per week ). Manchester United is said to prefer signing a younger player who will peak at the club and with a long term prospect, having also taken into account Ronaldo’s dip in form in recent periods this season .

On the other hand, Ronaldo is reluctant to move to PSG as he considers the French Ligue 1 a step down compared to Spain and England. The reason might not be far from the fact that PSG have won the league four times in a row and are currently 28 points above second placed Principality club Monaco with four games to go. The competition in the French league is nonexistent which makes the league unattractive for the big guns.

This therefore, means that Ronaldo might remain in the Spanish capital for the time being even as Real Madrid are yet to open talks on a reported 5-year contract.

However, you never can tell what Madrid will do in the transfer market and the signing of a big name star could make Ronaldo all of a sudden available and for cheap. Also, with Ronaldo seem a Jorge Mendes still the Portuguese’s agent, he could make a deal happen, he always does for his clients.

One thing is certain, Ronaldo’s next move won’t be because of money and he will not go to a club where he will not be appreciated which gives the Red devils a good chance in the long term.
