Southampton defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama says that Arsenal scouts have been watching him play, and that manager Arsene Wenger wants to sign him at the end of the season.

The Kenyan international was a target of Arsenal a couple of years ago when he was at Celtic, but instead ended up moving to Southampton for £12 million, where he has now proved his credentials in the Premier League.

“Wenger has been talking about me,” he told the Sun.

“He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.

Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.”

“But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe.

“Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer.”

The 23-year-old would cost Arsenal around £20 million, but given his drive and approach to the game he could be a very good buy for the Gunners.
