Andres Villas-Boas says he is worried about his job at Chelsea
The 34-year-old ex-Porto manager has told the press all along that he is not worried about his future at Stamford Bridge, because Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told him he has two years to build a team for the future.
This is what AVB always refers to as the project.
This however is not what he said when interviewed by a Portuguese radio station in his native language, when he admitted it was quite possible that he could get the sack just like Chelsea’s last manager Carlo Ancelotti.
This is what AVB had to say: “It’ll be one of two [reactions] – a continuation of the project and full support or just the cultural pattern that has happened before,” said Villas-Boas.
“We don’t know if it’ll be tomorrow or in two years from now.” “It’ll depend upon what is your understanding of what is happening at the moment.” AVB later added: “We are now in the exact same moment as last year. It is an exact copy.
“I think I have felt the confidence from Abramovich. But the pattern of behaviour of the owner has led to a downfall in similar situations or even ‘better’ situations.”
With Chelsea in a battle with Arsenal, Newcastle, and Liverpool for that crucial fourth spot in the Premiership which means a place in next seasons Champions league worth a reputed £45 million, it will be interesting to see what will happen should Chelsea not qualify.
